About
The Petrolia Squires are a proud senior ice hockey club based out of Greenwood Recreation Centre in Petrolia, Ontario. With roots dating back to the 1960s, the Squires have carried on a tradition of competitive hockey, community pride, and unforgettable moments on the ice.
Originally formed as the Petrolia Chiefs, the team became the Squires in 1973 and quickly established itself as one of the most respected senior hockey programs in Ontario. Over the decades, the Squires have battled some of the province’s toughest rivals, built lasting connections with fans, and left their mark on the national stage.
The Squires are two-time Allan Cup National Champions (1979 & 1981), one of only a handful of Canadian senior clubs to win multiple national titles, and were even invited to represent Canada at the 1979 World Senior Hockey Championships in Russia.
Season after season, generations of players have laced up in black, gold, green, and white, representing Petrolia with pride. Today, the Squires continue to compete in the Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL), carrying forward more than 50 years of tradition while building new memories for players and fans alike.
